October’s cooler weather is finally here. When the nights starts cooling, the inshore fishing starts heating up for the fall fishing season.

Some of our homeowner friends from St. George Island and Cape San Blas have beautiful 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units open and ready for our fishing buddies. If you are looking to get away for a weekend or spend a nice relaxing week of fishing and lounging on our secluded beaches, this is the time of year to do it. Rental rates are lower and the weather is normally a little cooler this time of year. Give us a call if you see that you may be able to sneak away for a couple of days or a week or two and enjoy our beautiful fall season mixed with wonderful fall fishing.

Now, to the Fishing Report……

Inshore… If you follow fishing I'm sure you have heard the term "bait run", or "mullet run". Well let me say this, they're here the recent flood waters from the storms have flushed the bait into the bay. Shrimp, finger mullet, greenies, and pogeys are throughout the bay swimming in pods in varying sizes. Where there are bait pods there will be hungry fish feeding on them. We have been catching some really nice inshore species of fish and expect it to only get better as the season progresses. October, November and into December are prime fall fishing months for schooling Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder and Black Drum. Fall fishing is always some of the best fishing in the year. Our nights are getting longer and cooler thus the water temperatures are dropping. Anyone who knows fishing, knows that this combination is what triggers fish to do their thing and feed up for the upcoming winter season.
Cooling waters create hungry fish!
We do offer flounder gigging charters on the Apalachicola Bay. We will be targeting flounder on their fall run which started mid September and goes through October depending on the weather and water temperatures. Look for some fantastic fall flounder gigging charters!
Of course many of you have already called and reserved your boats for the upcoming season. We really appreciate the fact that you took heed in our earlier fishing reports and reserved early. At this time we do have days open, but don’t expect our guides to be open long. Call or email us for availability or to reserve one of our native guides.

If you’re looking for experienced, family friendly, native guides give us a call 850-653-2622 or drop us an email to info@BookMeACharter.com

We’d love to take you fishing in our back yard!

Fishing Report Apalachicola/St. George Island

Book Me A Charter Guide Service
By: Sandra Allen
Apalachicola, FL

Hi everyone! The weather continues to be hot, humid and down right muggy at times.
We have been extremely busy the past few months with new clients as well as loads of previous clients who came back to fish with us again this year. We have been so blessed to have so many wonderful fishing folks who continue to call us when they know they are coming to our area to get in a few days of fishing with their favorite captain while vacationing with their family.

Inshore… During this time of year the fishing is best in the very early
morning and late evening. The water temperatures are around 82-85 degrees and the fish have been finicky midday. Some days are better than others as the fish are staying along the grass flats early then going to the deeper holes when the sun gets up and warms the shallower water. Shark fishing’s been good most anywhere there’s bait and deeper water. Redfish, Spanish mackerel and Speckled trout are varying day to day. We've having a very good summer season in comparison to previous years because this year the white trout have shown up very early and so far still here through the heat of summer.
One good thing about inshore fishing and hot weather is tarpon fishing!
We have been seeing tarpon within the bay, passes and outside beaches of the islands that surround the Apalachicola Bay, they are pretty much scattered all over the bay and near shore gulf waters…

We do offer flounder gigging charters for those of you that would like to
try something different.Flounder gigging charters are a night time sport that usually begins at dusk dark but depends greatly on the moon, winds and tide.

Offshore... The captains are reporting excellent catch on grouper and snapper in general. However note that gag grouper, red snapper and amberjack are out of season. Even with all the closures we still have been able to bring a few keeper fish home for dinner. An occasional slow day still happens from time to time with passing fronts but in general thefishing has been (and we hope will continue to be) good, some days being excellent offshore during the summer season. The boats have been coming in with some reallynice (smoker)King Mackerel and Cobia while flat lining along the reefs and wrecks in gulf waters south of St. George Island, Dog Island, St. Vincent Island and Cape San Blas.

February 2011 Fishing Forecast

February Fishing!

Preparing for Spring Fishing Season!
What can you expect to catch?? Well, there’s no telling this time of year…The good news, it’s usually not a hard head catfish when the waters are cool…
Just bait up and give it a try, from shore or from our boats!

We have had some really mild weather the past few weeks with temperatures in the 70's some days, which makes for a beautiful day on the water. February expect to catch speckled trout however this is the only month in the year that speckled trout are out of season. We don’t mind at all throwing them back; its great fun just to catch them.
Inshore… The fishing should be on and off- excellent when the temps are up and slow when a cold front is in or approaching the area due to a barometric change. On those good days when the weather and conditions are right, grab your rod and hang on or better yet-give us a call. When the warm temperatures and bright sun warms the water it seems to confuse the fish into thinking its spring. The redfish should be biting well along the edges of the flats and oyster bars close to deep water. The cuts and passes should be off and on for bull redfish as they usually are this time of the year. If you’re looking for big reds it’s always worth a try, drift fish or anchor out, live bait works best, dead bait (shrimp or cut bait) or artificial soft or hard plastics, of course working with the falling or rising tide of the moving currents.
March expect an influx of bait into our area waters, and of course with bait comes game fish following them which includes pompano, Spanish mackerel, speckled trout, flounder and redfish to name a few. Expect warmer weather, warmer water and hungry fish from a long winter…
Of course fishing varies from day to day and where you catch fish today- you may not get a bite tomorrow. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the fish have moved away, it could simply mean that the conditions aren’t right for them to feed at that time, the tide, the wind the currents or the water clarity could be a turn off for them. So don’t rule out a spot because you didn’t get a bite the last time you were there.
Note, the entire month of February Speckled Sea Trout are out of season and illegal to keep. We don’t mind throwing them back- most of the fun in fishing, is the catching anyway.
Our phones have been ringing and emails coming in as people are trying to firm up their vacation dates with a fishing trip or two during their stay in our beautiful area.
Our calendars are looking good for the upcoming spring/summer season!
At this time we do have days open, so if you find yourself in our area and want to go fishing give us a call, we would love to hear from you.
If you’re looking for experienced, friendly, native guides give us a call 850-653-2622 or send us an email info@BookMeACharter.com …
We would love to take you fishing in our backyard!

September Inshore & Offshore fishing Predictions

Exciting Fall Fishing Season Begins!
By: Sandra Allen
Book Me A Charter Guide Service
Apalachicola, FL

September’s cooler weather is on the way and finally a break from the blistering summer heat. During September expect cooler nights in the 60s and warmer days in the 80's as this is our cool down month. When the nights starts cooling, the inshore fishing starts heating up for the fall fishing season. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. Football games, hunting season on the way and of course there's nothing like fishing the area waters during the fantastic fall fishing season!

If you are looking to get away for a weekend or spend a nice relaxing week of fishing and lounging on our secluded beaches this is the time of year to do it. Rental rates are lower and the weather is normally cooler this time of year. Give us a call if you see that you may be able to sneak away for a couple of days or a week or two and enjoy our beautiful fall season mixed with wonderful fall fishing.

Now, to the Fishing Report……

Inshore… We have been catching some really nice inshore species of fish and expect it to only get better as the season progresses. September, October and November are prime fall fishing months for schooling Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder and Black Drum. Fall fishing is always one of the most successful times of the year for inshore fishing. Our nights are getting longer and cooler thus the water temperatures are dropping. Anyone who knows fishing, knows that this combination is what triggers fish to do their thing.
Cooling waters create hungry fish!
We do offer flounder gigging charters on the Apalachicola Bay. We will be targeting flounder on their fall run starting mid September through October depending on the weather and water temperatures. Look for some fantastic fall flounder gigging charters!

Offshore... We have been catching some really big Snapper, Red and Gag Grouper, King Mackerel and Cobia. Our captains are reporting good offshore fishing in water 45-100 ft. in depth, from 6-20 miles offshore. We expect good offshore fishing to continue through the fall season. Remember Recreational Red Snapper season has closed therefore any red snapper caught must be returned to the waters unharmed… The closure is for red snapper only, any other legal snapper species caught is legal to keep within legal limits.

Of course many of you have already called and reserved your boats for the upcoming season. We really appreciate the fact that you took heed in our earlier fishing reports and reserved early. At this time we do have days open, but don’t expect our guides to be open long we fish alot as our photo album reflects with over 60 pages of fantastic fishing pictures of our clients enjoying their day on the water. Call or email us for availability or to reserve one of our native guides.
