The waters are warmer and the fishing is hotter!
Sandra Allen
Book Me A Charter
As May temperatures start to heat up the gulf, bays and estuarial area waters expect the fishing in general to be good, some days excellent with the right conditions
We would like to thank the many folks that came down to fish with us!
We look forward to many years of fishing together!
Now to the fishing predictions...
Inshore… The inshore fishing was on fire during the month of April. We expect the “catching” trend to continue into May. Our target fish this month are Spanish Mackeral, Speckled trout, Redfish, Black Drum and Flounder just to name a few of the many species that we catch this time of year. If you’ve ever been out triple tail fishing and were able to snag one of those fighting rascals you know you have to go out and do it again. I’ve got great news for all you tripletail enthusiast- The tripletail are here! Expect May triple tail fishing to be good through out the month.
Speckled Trout, Tripletail, Redfish, Black Drum and Spanish Mackeral are the hot ticket for the inshore angler this month…
Don’t limit yourself to one species of fish guys, go for the slam!
Fair warning guys tarpon fishing will be starting in the next month or so-their arrival to the area waters vary year to year but usually start showing up in June...
Yes, we do offer FLOUNDER GIGGING charters for the Apalachicola area waters.
Offshore.... May is typically a calm weather month for offshore fishing. Aprils offshore fishing was good, we expect it the fishing to only get better in May and June as the gulf waters warm with our beautiful spring weather. Expect to catch Grouper, Snapper, Triggerfish, King Mackeral and Cobia for a mixed bag of reef dwellers while bottom fishing or flat lining our area reefs and wrecks.
We have been fishing a lot lately, feel free to browse around our website and look at our huge photo album with over 40 pages of fantastic fishing pictures (bragging rights) of our wonderful clients with their prize catch.
Do you want more information about fishing in our area or available dates?
We are just a phone call or email away!
We Know/Go fishing!
When can we book you a charter?
If you’re looking for experienced, family friendly, native guides give us a call 850-653-2622.
We’d love to take you fishing in our backyard!
Sincerely,
Sandra Allen

April means fishing!

Book Me A Charter Guide Service
Man, I Love My Job!
The spring fishing season is upon us and all the captains are like kids in a candy store. This is the month for fishing! The excitement is in the air (or should I say in the water) and we can hardly wait to go fishing everyday.
I'd also like to add March fishing has been fantastic as the photos below reflect.
We have been blessed this past month with some wonderful families who love to fish. We are so honored to have been chosen as their guides and look forward to many years of fishing together.
The term "fish on" has a new meaning for some of these fishing folks as they said it many times...
Inshore…. Early April fishing is typically pretty good, some days down right excellent. Bait fish are everywhere inside and outside the Apalachicola and St. Joe Bay. Spanish mackerel are in full swing following the bait pods through out the area waters. Speckled trout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, pompano, tripletail and black drum are among the daily list of targeted inshore species. The terrible news is that the catfish are back in full swing too because of the recent rise in water temperatures and influx of bait fish.
Anyone that was fortunate enough to fish with us in the past when the spring fishing was on; knows exactly what we are talking about… Grab your hats and come on; it’s getting Very Fishy around here!
Want to try something unique, try a nighttime flounder gigging charter out of the Apalachicola Bay with our experienced native guides.
Our guides offer generations of knowledge of fishing in their back yard!
Offshore.... We have been offshore fishing several times in the past month and in general the fishing has been excellent in action, but hard to get away from the red snapper. Red Snapper season opens for state waters April 15th and Federal waters April 22nd. We are anxiously awaiting the opening of the red snapper season and pray that they (snapper) haven’t been reading the news of their impending fate. Now for grouper, triggerfish and rest of those bottom dwellers we so love to catch, it’s been pretty good too. Grouper when you’re able to get through the wall of red snapper to the bottom have been biting well.
Snapper season opens in state waters on April 15th and several of my boats are already booked for the week following that. I have a few boats still open, so call early to insure that you will be in on the first few days of snapper season opening or our wonderful inshore fishing for speckled trout, spanish mackerel, redfish, tripletail and a never ending list of fish species entering our bay waters daily.
We have had a boat load of calls and emails for snapper season opening as well as people checking available dates during their vacation, but we are not completely booked as of yet. That has a tendency to change as the word gets out about our excellent inshore and offshore fishing during this time of year. Don’t be the one setting on the dock waiting for a boat to come in or franticly calling around looking for just any captain on a days notice. Make your fishing arrangements early to insure you will have your preferred captain available to you during your vacation.

Spring is in the Air!
By: Sandra Allen
Book Me A Charter
This past week has been beautiful! Cool nights 45-55 degrees warming to 70ish during the day with calm waters and bright sun, it couldn’t be more perfect weather to go fishing! The birds are singing, flowers are blooming and area waters have been calm. Today we do have a fast moving cold front coming through and should be out of the area by Friday(Feb. 29, leap day)... Great news for the upcoming weekend!
With spring right around the corner and warmer temperatures lingering for days, it seems spring may come early this year!
What would that mean for us- possibly an early spring FISHING season!
The annual Chili Cook Off and auction benefiting the St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department will be held this Saturday March 1st. on St. George Island. The weather predictions couldn’t be more perfect with temperatures predicted at 70 degrees we are expecting loads of people to taste and contribute to the 26th annual event…
Come join us for some fantastic chili and help support a worthy cause!
Of course if you’re looking to do a little fishing while you’re here for the chili cook off… give us a call we have guides open and ready to take you for a fun day of fishing!
March 1st opens the speckled trout fishing season after a full month of catch and release.
Now to the fishing report!
Inshore… If February’s fishing is an indication of the fishing to come, man we are all in for a treat. There were several days last month we went out and caught very good fish which included speckled trout, redfish, sheepshead, black drum and flounder. We also had a couple days of slow to moderate fishing, but that’s normal for February and early March. As the water heats up this month with the warming weather, so will the inshore fishing with the influx of bait coming into the bay. This month expect some pretty good days to catch redfish, speckled trout, sheepshead, spanish mackerel, flounder and black drum- pompano should be showing very soon.
For you guys that want to try something a little different than the average fishing trip-We will be offering flounder gigging charters in the Apalachicola Bay starting mid March.
Offshore... Last months weather only allowed us to venture offshore a couple of days but on those days the fishing was fair to good. Snapper bite was great, of course all red snapper has to be thrown back until April 15th inside state waters. Even though we did throw back the red snapper we were able to bring home some beautiful grouper, grey snapper, flounder (yes flounder offshore) and trigger fish. We expect the fishing to only get better as the waters warm…
Expect to catch grouper, snapper, triggerfish and a variety of reef dwelling fish. King mackerel and cobia should be here late in the month with their natural migration to our area waters.
Early-mid spring is the time to go fishing, the water’s warming the suns shining longer and brighter and the fish are usually hungry after a long winter…
The emails and phone calls have been coming in for information and available dates for charters. We have been booking trips for the spring, summer and fall season. All you guys waiting to get your schedules together, it’s time to firm up those tentative dates.
For all you that want to go fishing and haven’t made a reservation yet. Don’t worry; at this time we still have boats open so feel free to give us a call and see what may be available.
Come on down and let’s go fishing!

Want to try a little fishing in our area?
What can you expect to catch?? Well, there’s no telling this time of year…The good news, it’s usually not a hard head catfish when the waters are cool…
Just bait up and give it a try, from shore or from our boats!
We have had some mild weather the past week with temperatures in the 70s which makes for a beautiful day on the water. We went out a few days ago and caught loads of speckled trout which all were caught and released, we also caught silver trout and big whiting as keeper fish… Yes, this is the only month in the year that speckled trout are out of season- we don’t mind at all throwing them back; its great fun just to catch them.
Inshore… The fishing should be on and off- excellent when the temps are up and slow when a cold front is in or approaching the area due to a barometric change. On those good days when the weather and conditions are right, grab your rod and hang on or better yet-give us a call. When the warm temperatures and bright sun warms the water it seems to confuse the fish into thinking its spring. The redfish should be biting well along the edges of the flats and oyster bars close to deep water. The cuts and passes should be off and on for redfish as they usually are this time of the year. If you’re looking for big reds it’s always worth a try, drift fish or anchor out, live bait works best, dead bait (shrimp or cut bait) or artificial soft or hard plastics, of course working with the falling or rising tide.
March expect an influx of bait into our area waters, and of course with bait comes game fish following them which includes pompano, Spanish mackerel, trout, flounder and redfish to name a few. Expect warmer weather, warmer water and hungry fish from a long winter…
Offshore… We have only had a couple trips offshore because of the weather conditions but on those trips the captains are reporting fair-good fishing from 3-8 miles out, bottom fishing for grouper, triggerfish and other reef dwellers. Red snapper are out of season until April 15th, so all those red snapper have to be thrown back. If you can get your bait to the bottom before the snapper gets it- hang on, the grouper are hungry. We are primarily fishing with frozen bait because live bait during this time of year is hard to come by. We have also been trolling up some nice grouper.
Of course fishing varies from day to day and where you catch fish today- you may not get a bite tomorrow. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the fish have moved away, it could simply mean that the conditions aren’t right for them to feed at that time, the tide, the wind the currents or the water clarity could be a turn off for them. So don’t rule out a spot because you didn’t get a bite the last time you were there.
Note, the entire month of February Speckled Sea Trout are out of season and illegal to keep. We don’t mind throwing them back- most of the fun in fishing, is the catching anyway.
Our phones have been ringing and emails coming in as people are trying to firm up their vacation dates with a fishing trip or two during their stay in our beautiful area.
Our calendars are looking good for the upcoming season!
At this time we do have days open, so if you find yourself in our area and want to go fishing give us a call, we would love to hear from you.

Happy fishing wishes for the New Year!
By: Sandra Allen
Book Me A Charter
2007 was a great year for us, the Apalachicola Bay and Deep Sea fishing was fantastic!
Our client list continues to grow as you share your fishing experiences with your friends and family which makes our referrals for 2007 off the charts!
We would like to thank you all for fishing with us in the past! We look forward to another year of excellent fishing with the best clients in the world!
With resolutions usually made on January 1st, I really hope you are sticking to them!
Of course for myself another year of broken resolutions~ I hope that you all are able to stick to your goals (better than I am) and make the upcoming year a great one!
Now to the fishing report……
Inshore… January fishing should be on and off- fair to good when the temperatures are up and slower with a cold front or barometric change. On those good days when the weather and conditions are right, hang on. When the warm temperatures and bright sun warms the water it seems to confuse the fish into thinking that it’s spring. The speckled trout and the occasional flounder and black drum have been scattered in the area waters. The cuts and passes have been off and on for redfish as they usually are this time of the year. With the water temperatures around 58 degrees the trick during the colder water season is to slow down your presentation, as the cold blooded species are slower to react to your bait…
Note: February Speckled Sea Trout are out of season and illegal to keep. We don’t mind throwing them back- most of the fun in fishing, is the catching anyway.
Offshore… Weather is always a big factor in offshore fishing during the colder months. My best advice for fishing offshore in January would be bundle up, watch the weather and pick your days. North winds in our area can be very deceiving, nice slick and calm beginnings can have you motoring at idle speeds to come in so that you are not splashed by running directly into the wind on the way home. Keeping all this in mind and preparing before leaving out can make for a wonderful day in the big water. This is the time of year for trolling up some big grouper as well as bottom fishing for grouper, snapper, and trigger fish only a few miles from shore as most of the bigger fish have come in closer to land as typical for this time of year. Note: Red Snapper are out of season and although plentiful in our area they must be returned back to the water unharmed.
Our phones have been ringing a lot lately as people are trying to firm up their vacation dates with a fishing trip or two during their vacation. Our calendars are looking good for the upcoming spring and summer season.
All you procrastinators are fair warned we are starting to book up for the season… Don’t be the ones that are franticly calling around to any guide service asking if they have a boat available. If you went last year and liked the person you were with the odds are someone else did too. Your favorite guide could be booked if you wait!
Please make your fishing arrangements early as our guides are often booked weeks to months in advance.
At this time we do have boats and dates open, so if your find yourself in the area feel free to give us a shout!
We look forward to fishing with you in 2008!
As always- if you’re looking for experienced, friendly, native guides give us a call or send us an email!
We’d love to take you fishing in our backyard!
